this will depreciate into an obtainable entry fee.

By then all the headlight fluids will have leaked out and transmission shot.
Get it now.

I’d rather opt for the Cayman unless you really need a 4 door. I believe that the Boxster/Cayman are future classics now that the new ones are 4 cylinders.

If you get the upgraded blinker gaskets this isn’t an issue and you could even DIY it if you’re adventurous.

We’ve had this Panamera S sitting here for 2 months in our “forgotten souls” section. We took it in on trade for $16k (my price if I want it). The engine sounds like it runs ok but the dash is lit up like a xmas tree. Air suspension is shot and the paint is fading in some spots. It’s not a high mileage car, just forgoten and not maintained. Back here we have a couple GL class, a 2015 C-class (ex loaner), and some other random stuff.

you’d have a hard time fitting kids into the back of a boxster

I wish I knew how to change the blinker gasket. I am not good operating car rotisserie. I always drop it when it’s upside down and smoosh the NSA transmitter

air suspension lol. Thats a lotta car for $16k. probably a lot of work too

Unless they’re unborn..
Ok well, that’s a point. But did you know that (smaller) children fit in the backseat of a 911?
![]() 06/29/2016 at 08:26 |
|
Yeah, so far I have not heard of any major issues with these, but a first-gen model with a V8 and AWD might lead to some costly repairs. I hope they continue to hold up as they approach 10+ years.

unfortunately, said small children only get bigger. It would be nice. I guess if i have a large enough collection of old German cars, one will be running at any given point.

Holy crap that 4s looks nice. That’s the one I would buy if I had space and money. The dad of a friend of mine had a 996 convertible that he would drive on weekends. I actually fit in the backseat, I was rather short then tbh but it wasn’t too bad.

Has anyone shoved an LS in one yet?

You don’t need a rotisserie if you have a nice baking sheet.

Wow, 16k? I mean, I understand trade-in values, but still.
![]() 06/29/2016 at 08:51 |

So it's $16k down, then $1,000 a month for 2 years.
![]() 06/29/2016 at 08:53 |
|
I wouldn't even compare the two unless you were just dead-set on buying a Porsche. I could mayyybe see a 911 in a pinch, but to me, it would be Panamera vs Cayenne. And I would lean toward Panamera for the lower "douche factor" alone :D

We took in a 2015 C7 Z06 with under 2,000 miles last week for $48k. Sold it Saturday for $89k
In 2014, we took a 6 month old Gallardo LP whatever Spyder, worth almost $300k for like $160k. That was just sold to wholesale.
Back at my old dealer in 2009, we sold a wholesale bound 2008 Viper SRT-10 with a Kenne Bell supercharger to a customer for $19k cash
Panamera, Mecan, old Boxster, Cayman and Cayenne don’t hold their value for crap after 3 years no matter what engine or trim.
Parts for those even at wholesale price are insane.

If I want to get it, our used car sales manager lets us take them for what they paid for them (cash only). They will more than likely just whole this eventually. Only other option is to throw money at it and put it on our lot, but these kind* of cars just sit there.
Used Mercedes, Lexus, and BMW move fast. Every other brand sit there forever.

When they depreciate to the point of negative money I will take one.
![]() 06/29/2016 at 09:06 |

That's how it was where I worked in the early 2000s...we could pay whatever they "had in it" (purchase, plus reconditioning, repairs, etc) at cost. Sounds like there's a good reason this stayed off the lot, probably more trouble than it's worth to chase down all the problems.
![]() 06/29/2016 at 09:16 |

I forgot to add Land Rover items to the list. Those don’t last long and are purchased extra cheap (for obvious reasons).
HERE is our inventory. A bazillion Benz lol
LOL!!! The Panamera is still listed for some reason. That shit is super broke as balls. There should be a set of Lotus Esprit there. We’ve had them for 3 years and every time we try to turn them on, something else breaks on them lols :]
![]() 06/29/2016 at 09:18 |

I’m sure they will, but the cost to maintain them will keep me away.

hmmm. How do you lube the light bulbs tho?

Why have you not sent this to Tavarish yet?
![]() 06/29/2016 at 09:40 |

The Cayman and Boxster are perfect second or third cars. If I had to buy a 4 door Porsche it would be the Macan even though it’s the lease special low-spec-high-price Porsche.

So many Bentleys under $50k, which means they also paid less than $20k for them in trade.
who much does a wholesale buyer’s license cost? I need to get in on this

It’s like a $50 fee here in TN. You have the knowledge to make them work after you buy them too. I want an Elise built with Exige parts. And a 67 Falcon with St bits underneath.
![]() 06/29/2016 at 10:23 |
|
LET’S DO IT!!!
1967 Falcon ST ftw!
Pinto ST should really be a thing

I know right, my GM buddy with a reallly nice 67 chevelle resto-mod is trying to help me convince the esposa to let me buy this:
http://nashville.craigslist.org/cto/5624848686…
and stuff the 2l from the St into it
![]() 06/29/2016 at 10:36 |

That Falcon is top dollar. $2700 -$3400 is what one like that would be around these parts.
Ford ST long blocks are going for under $2k on eBay.
hmmm..... I like what this could become.

Tavarish Special!
![]() 06/29/2016 at 10:55 |

on a weekly basis throughout high end type dealers like here. I need a wholesale license and more moneyz asap!

But, but wagon + no real rust + patina to go with my flannel shirt/skinny jeans/ironic skate shoes/ironic sunglasses/combover
![]() 06/29/2016 at 11:18 |
|
If you are going to leave the body like that.... then $4800-$5000 tops.
If not, it will need a lot of hours on the body from what I could see and will require the expensive brand sealers/primers. Modern Ford ST colors will be insanely rad on this! Especially with zero chrome bits. *got chills*

I’d wager there is a good chance you’ll see them in normal person cash in hand territory(say, sub $15,000) while they still have usable life. I say this based on the Cayenne, 10-12 year old cayennes are listed in the $10,000-15,000 range right now, with about 100k miles. I’m going to be very interested in rear wheel drive models when the time comes. Of course, as a home mechanic I’d want the most stripped down base version(it can’t brake if it doesn’t have it) which I doubt Porsche sold many of.
![]() 06/29/2016 at 11:25 |
|
I think if you’re a jalop who is interested in one of these to keep on the road through your own wrenching proficiency, it’s going to be in your best interest to find one with as little options and tech as possible.
![]() 06/29/2016 at 11:34 |

no chrome but that ST blue and a RWD 2L ecoboost setup with a fully modern setup for suspension, brakes, interior (an old school look with modern touches)
![]() 06/29/2016 at 14:34 |
|
Oh my. I mean, seriously? $16k?? What’s lit on the dash? Replacing the air suspension with a static setup wouldn’t be too bad, I hope. If the dash lights are just because of poor connections, lack of use, etc, could be an easy turnaround.
Deets? Year, mileage, etc?

This car is nearly identical to my Panamera! I think it is the closest one I have ever seen. Mine is a 2012, has 18-way seats, Burmester, and the rear seat package, but still, it is close.
